The vision flow produced intermittent timeout alarms. For this type of event it is important to distinguish a camera displaying a live image from the required image set actually arriving during the automatic sequence.
My focus
Camera triggering, cycle sequence and waiting states were compared to narrow down where the image flow could lose synchronisation. This work fits my focus on machine vision, EAVS and Cognex VisionPro, including diagnostics across vision, robot and PLC interfaces.
Diagnostic approach
A live image shows that acquisition is possible in that mode. It does not prove that an external trigger arrives at the correct point in Auto. The trigger event, camera response, image-set availability and next sequence step therefore need to be considered separately.
Reported outcome
The risk area for false timeout events was identified and verification points were defined. A finally confirmed correction or permanent resolution is not reported. No measured improvement in inspection quality or cycle time is claimed.
Further verification
Further testing should distinguish a missing trigger from a delayed image, an incomplete image set or a waiting condition in the sequence. Simply increasing a timeout does not establish why the fault occurred. Changes need controlled testing, a saved configuration and the facility’s approved procedures.
Key learning
Vision diagnostics concern the entire event chain, not only whether an image looks correct. Keeping observations, hypotheses and confirmed results separate makes it easier to choose the next test without presenting an ongoing investigation as a completed solution.
